In Mel Brooks' 1974 comedy, Young Frankenstein, Gene Hackman plays the blind hermit in a parody of a similar scene from 1935's Bride of Frankenstein. Hackman scored the uncredited cameo because he and Gene Wilder were tennis partners in real life and he asked Wilder if he could arrange a small part for him in the film.
