COSTANTINE XI was the last Emperor of the Eastern Roman Empire and reigned from 6 January 1449 until 29 May 1453, the date of his presumed death which occurred during the siege of Constantinople by the Ottoman Empire, which put an end, after 1058 years of existence, to Byzantine Empire. Added to the Western Roman Empire, which lasted 1229 years, overall the Roman Empire lasted for 2287 years.
