Community leaders and activists came out in force to support releasing Billy the elephant from 34 years of incarceration at the Los Angeles Zoo. The Rally to Free Billy from the #1 worst zoo for elephants in 2023 featured rousing speeches by former LA Councilor Paul Koretz, who introduced the motion to free Billy to sanctuary, Konstantine Anthony, former mayor of Burbank and candidate for LA Supervisor, and David Casselman, the attorney who took the LA Zoo to court to free Billy.
