Originally built in 1566 by the Ottoman Empire, the bridge was rebuilt in 2004 in collaboration with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), UNESCO, the World Bank and IRCICA. The bridge, which linked the Muslim and Christian parts of the city of Mostar, has stood as a symbol of brotherhood between different groups in the Balkans. | TRT
