Arsenal have been told Viktor Gyökeres will be their player once his asking price is met – with the Sporting Lisbon striker going on strike to force through his move to the Emirates Stadium.

Central to Gyökeres’s frustrations is a belief that he had an agreement with Sporting president Frederico Varandas to sell him for a certain fee, believed to be around €70 million (£60.4 million, $82 million). Varandas has publicly insisted Gyökeres will not be sold for such a price.

Arsenal appear to be at risk of losing out on star striker Viktor Gyokeres after not hearing from Sporting Lisbon for three days. The Gunners have been picking up their pursuit of the Swedish star, and he is thought to have signed a pre-contract agreement with the club,
