Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that no income tax will be paid by people with income up to Rs 12 lakh. The rebate was earlier up to Rs 7 lakh income. With standard deduction at Rs 75,000, people with income up to Rs 12.75 lakh would not have to pay any tax. Earlier, the tax payable till Rs 12 Lakh was Rs 80,000.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the top priorities of Budget 2025 will be to boost growth and enhance the spending power of the middle class.
