King Frederik X of Denmark tweaked his country’s royal coat of arms to enlarge symbols of Greenland and the Faroe

Greenland's Prime Minister, Mute Egede, is set to meet the Danish King Frederik in Copenhagen. This follows U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's interest in acquiring Greenland. Trump suggested possible military or economic actions to make the island part of the U.

Denmark’s royal household said the new insignia “strengthens the prominence” of the Commonwealth, including Greenland, as Donald Trump again proposes buying the island.

The three crowns that had been on the coat of arms, the royal family said, had been removed “as it is no longer relevant.”

The Danish king has changed the country’s royal coat of arms to display symbols of Greenland and the Faroe Islands more prominently – in an apparent rebuke to Donald Trump.

Donald Trump Jr. arrived in Greenland as the president-elect seeks control of the territory from Denmark, whose King Frederik changed the royal coat of arms.

The Danish president appeared to be a response to President-elect Donald Trump after boldly claiming he wanted to buy the territory for the United States.

Trump has spoken openly of his desire to make Greenland a part of the United States- so the King has moved to ensure the autonomous Danish territory is included more prominently alongside the Faroe Islands on his royal badge.
