MLB's biggest fireworks show of the summer takes place a little more than a week after July 4. The 2025 T-Mobile Home Run Derby is around the corner. Eight of the best sluggers in baseball will be swinging for the fences inside Truist Park in Atlanta on July 14.
The field for MLB’s 2025 Home Run Derby is set. Eight sluggers will take center stage when the annual spectacle takes place at Truist Park in Atlanta on Monday (8 p.m., ESPN).
Atlanta's own Ronald Acuña Jr. will represent the Braves and look to take home the chain in front of a home crowd. Though Acuña didn't make his season debut until late May, he's been on fire since returning to the field and is now up to 11 home runs, 20 RBI and a .336 batting average in 41 games.
Fittingly, it was none other than Braves superstar Ronald Acuña Jr. who was named as the first entrant into the 2025 T-Mobile Home Run Derby, as he’ll be swinging for the fences in front of his home fans when Truist Park hosts the Derby on July 14.
The most-awaited event of MLB's All-Star Week, the Home Run Derby will take place at Truist Field, home of the Atlanta Braves, in 2025.
The hometown favorite, Acuña has been one of the best hitters in the majors since returning from his second ACL surgery. This will be his third career Home Run Derby; he lost to Mets first baseman Pete Alonso in both 2019 and 2022. With the event taking place in Atlanta, the timing is right for him to finally take the prize.
And this time, after consulting with teammates, family and friends, the Twins center fielder is going as a Monday night Home Run Derby participant next week, too. The last, and first, time Buxton played in the All-Star Game was 2022 in Los Angeles, when he homered in an American League victory at Dodger Stadium.
After winning titles in 2019 and 2021, Mets first baseman Pete Alonso will end his five-year streak and pass on the July 14 Home Run Derby in Atlanta.
