MIAMI – Hurricane Flossie strengthened to a Category 2 cyclone Tuesday morning off the Pacific coast of Mexico, forecasters said.

Flossie has strengthened into a hurricane off Mexico's southwestern Pacific coast. The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said Flossie became a Category 1 hurricane Monday night and has maximum sustained winds of 120 kph (75 mph).

Barry formed Sunday near Mexico's southeast coast and is expected to drench the region for several days. Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Flossie formed off Mexico's southwest coast and is expected to become a hurricane on Monday or Tuesday,
