Nintendo has never utilized a "2" in any of its hardware launches, making the successor to the Switch a first of its kind. While this may seem like nothing more than an aesthetic choice, especially when the Wii U and SNES acted as successors to their respective console lines, it's a way bigger deal when you consider what that means for the future.

Though Nintendo has a history of discontinuing its older consoles without missing a beat, there's reason to believe this won't happen with the Switch.

After breathless speculation and much digital ink spilled, Nintendo unveiled the Nintendo Switch 2, the successor to its hugely successful console, in a video. Aside from its appearance of it, not much is known about the system.
