Erin is forecast to become at least a Category 3 hurricane by Friday, but the storm is still thousands of miles away from the mainland United States.

The chances that the storm will make landfall in the U.S. have increased slightly after the path shifted south.

The National Hurricane Center expects the storm to strengthen over the next several days and says it could become a hurricane by late Thursday.

Meteorologist Tony Pann says that there's a greater chance of rain in Maryland on Wednesday afternoon. Otherwise, Tuesday weather will be partially cloudy, with temperatures around 80 degrees.
