Funcom’s Arrakis has a weather system and it impacts the map destroying vehicles and potentially killing players. They’ll also have to deal with sandworms. Players can’t fight them.

Arrakis consists of bone-dry deserts with giant dunes, rocky cliffs and little sign of water. The climate is extreme, with scorching heat during the day and freezing temperatures at night.

If Arrakis were real, it would be located about as far from Canopus as Pluto is from the sun, Farnsworth says. But Canopus is a large white star calculated to be about 7,200° Celsius.

Planet Arrakis lacks oceans, lakes, or even tiny puddles on its surface. Needless to say, that's bad news for humans. "There's a rule of threes," Hawkins said.
