Reports from Nangarhar province indicated that 38 Afghans were released from a Pakistani prison and have returned to Afghanistan after being detained despite holding valid legal documents.

ISLAMABAD (AP) — A prisoner swap between the United States and Afghanistan’s Taliban freed two Americans in exchange for a Taliban figure imprisoned for life in California on drug trafficking and terrorism charges, officials said Tuesday.

Most of Afghanistan’s fish is imported from neighboring Pakistan, and various options are available. The most popular however is carp, which fishmongers say commands a good price.

Officials in the Ministry of Refugees stated that these newly released prisoners returned to Afghanistan on Tuesday, January 14 after being freed from Pakistani jails. According to information from the Torkham Border Administration in Nangarhar Province, these prisoners had been detained in Pakistan’s Balochistan province for 15 days.

Corbett, who had lived in Afghanistan with his family in 2021 after the collapse of the US-backed govt, was abducted by the Taliban in Aug 2022.

Last week, four people were killed and as many wounded in various incidents across Afghanistan. According to reports, an armed robber was shot dead in a clash with security forces in Jalalabad, the capital of eastern Nangarhar province. A security force member was injured.
