The Bruins were sellers on Friday and traded several core players including Brad Marchand, Charlie Coyle and Brandon Carlo.
With Brad Marchand and Charlie McAvoy on the shelf, Charlie Coyle and Brandon Carlo have both been elevated to Bruins ’ alternate captains. It’s a proud distinction, an official designation of leadership for a team they’ve spent most of the last decade with.
The Boston Bruins blew it up at the trade deadline. Trent Frederic, Justin Brazeau, Charlie Coyle, Brandon Carlo and captain Brad Marchand were all shipped out of Beantown to contending teams while the Bruins sit on the outside of the playoff cut.
The Ottawa Senators landed Dylan Cozens, a player the Red Wings were interested in, plus  intriguing Fabian Zetterlund. The Florida Panthers brought in Seth Jones and Brad Marchand.  The Toronto Maple Leafs improved their defense with the acquisition of Brandon Carlo and added respected third-line center Scott Laughton.
Bruins defenseman Brandon Carlo is being traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs as the Bruins clean house before the NHL trade deadline, Bruins general manager Don Sweeney announced on Friday.
