Indonesia Landslide Death Toll Rises To 21
Flash flooding and landslides on Indonesia’s main island of Java have killed at least 21 people and damaged villages and rice fields.
This is the dramatic moment a flash flood surged into a home during heavy rain in Indonesia on Monday. CCTV captured the rising water level as muddy torrents filled the property in the Pekalongan Regency of Central Java on January 20.
The heavy rains caused rivers to overflow on the main island of Java, flooding nine villages and sending mud, rocks, and debris cascading down the mountainsides.
Floods have wreaked havoc across several regions in Indonesia, forcing residents to evacuate and disrupting transportation.

Indonesian rescuers resumed a search on Wednesday for people missing after flash floods and landslides on Indonesia’s main island of Java that killed at least 17 people. Waters from flooded rivers tore through nine villages in Pekalongan regency of Central Java province and landslides tumbled onto mountainside hamlets after the torrential rains on Monday.
Flash floods killed at least two residents amid heavy rain in Indonesia. Local media reported that the storm destroyed bridges, houses, vehicles, and public facilities. More than 11,000 residents were displaced during the deluge in Lampung province on January 17.
