Two of the top basketball teams in the SEC compete in a pivotal matchup as Auburn and Florida face off on February 8. Auburn, ranked first in the nation with a near-perfect record, has not lost a game since early December.

Johni Broome is back, and Auburn is still on top of the SEC. The Tigers picked up their 11th straight win on Saturday night when they beat Tennessee 53-51. It marked Broome’s first game back from an ankle injury. He had a team-high 16 points and 13 rebounds off the bench in the win, which marked the lowest point total the Tigers have had all year.

Alabama and Auburn are set to play two of the most anticipated regular-season games, perhaps ever, in the coming weeks.

Smith and Moore’s record might not last long, however. Fellow defensive lineman Jah-Marien Latham is set to return for a sixth season in 2024, giving him a shot at another win against Auburn, though the Tigers host the 2025 Iron Bowl, one of the tougher road venues in the SEC.

Auburn claimed the program’s second No. 1 ranking last ... Alabama and Florida rounded out the top five despite each losing a game last week. Only three teams — Alabama, Florida and No. 6 Tennessee — held the same spot from a week ago.
