Winter grabbing Texas by scruff this weekend with snow in parts of state
It really hasn’t felt like winter in Texas lately, but that will change in a big way starting this weekend with snow possible in parts of the Lone Star State.
Texas has experienced above-average temperatures lately, but that could change this weekend amid a cold front with chances of snow.
On Wednesday evening, a cold front will build from the west which has the potential to bring showers and storms.
A major shift in the weather pattern late this week will upend Houston temperatures, resurrecting a longer winter chill for January.
Snow is officially falling in Texas. A winter system has impacted the region near Midland/Odessa, and brought snowfall Monday, December 29, according to the National Weather Service (NWS). In a social media post, folks at the National Weather Service shared video of snow falling outside their offices.
Temperatures are set to rise back into the 80s this week, but weather models show that a cold front will arrive by the weekend.
