Change is afoot for airports and travelers across the country. Effective immediately, the TSA will no longer require passengers to take off their shoes while going through security checkpoints.

For the past 19 years, travelers have become conditioned to slipping off their shoes upon getting to Transportation Security Administration checkpoints at the airport.

Travelers at John Glenn International Airport (CMH) were not taking their shoes off at the checkpoints on Wednesday, the day after Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem made the announcement.
