Freeze warnings are in effect for parts of the southern desert as overnight lows drop to 39 degrees in Phoenix, while High Country travelers face icy roads and temperatures near freezing.

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — It’s a First Alert Weather Day as storms are forming near the Valley early Thursday afternoon. Storms are impacting portions of the Phoenix area, with hail and graupel reported in some areas.

2025 was the second-hottest year on record in Phoenix, according to National Weather Service data. Only 2024 had a hotter year-round average temperature. And climate change made a number of other impacts on Arizona last year.
