Although NASA will use its Space Launch System (SLS) to slingshot astronauts around the Moon in 2026, the plan for several years has been to utilize SpaceX's Starship launch vehicle for the Artemis III Moon landing mission the following year.
But now reports have emerged in which NASA officials are concerned that the HLS won’t be ready for the launch of Artemis III in 2027. This comes after members of the Aerospace Safety Advisory Panel visited SpaceX’s Starbase facility and found that things aren’t moving along as expected.
