TikTok owner ByteDance shut down Marvel Snap and all its U.S. apps after the TikTok ban went into effect. That surprised Ben Brode, the game’s creator, who spoke to us about the brief ban and the future of the popular game.

The Marvel Comics digital game counts Nuverse as its publisher, which like TikTok is owned by the Chinese conglomerate ByteDance.

“ Marvel Snap is back online in the U.S.,” Second Dinner chief development officer Ben Brode announced on the game’s official Discord on Monday. “But to make sure this NEVER happens again, we’re working to bring more services in-house and partner with a new publisher.”

Marvel Snap is once again available to users in the United States, following the aftermath of the TikTok ban and the actions against ByteDance, but it still isn't on Apple's App Store.

"Marvel Snap is back online in the US, but to make sure this NEVER happens again, we’re working to bring more services in-house and partner with a new publisher. This is the start of a new era for Marvel Snap," Second Dinner explained on Twitter.

When TikTok disappeared over the weekend nobody was surprised. Its U.S. ban had been bouncing around Congress and the courts for over a year. But when Marvel Snap disappeared too fans and the devs alike were shocked.
