The Carolina Panthers defense regressed to Week 1 levels as they dropped an absolute stinker to the Tamp Bay Buccaneers.

Coach Dave Canales called it "a shock" that the Panthers got blown out at home. The good news? They don't have time to dwell on it.

That was all the cushion quarterback Baker Mayfield needed, as he continued to torment the Panthers. The Bucs quarterback, who was here briefly in 2022, is now 7-1 all-time against Carolina. He only threw 11 passes, in his first game back since a dislocated right thumb that cost him three games.

Baker Mayfield returned from a thumb injury on a day Tampa Bay needed to throw only 11 passes. Meantime, Bucky Irving ran 106 yards and two TDs while Carolina turned over the ball four times.

Baker Mayfield is back, and apparently, so are the Buccaneers.
