Maria Sharapova was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame on Aug. 23 — with a little help, and a touching speech, from friend and former on-court rival Serena Williams.

Maria Sharapova was inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, R.I., on Saturday, Aug. 23. Sharapova amassed a 645-171 record during her career and won 36 singles titles. She's earned close to $39 million. The Russian started her professional career at the age of 14 in 2001, just a few years shy of her epic rivalry with Serena Williams.
