South Louisiana is gearing up for the 2025 Mardi Gras season and there are several parades and parties that will roll through the streets of Baton Rouge in celebration.

Items like dried beans, canned beans and canned vegetables are in low demand. High-demand items include water, Gatorade, Powerade, fresh fruit (bananas and oranges, in particular), Gogurt, sandwiches, tuna lunch kits, ground coffee, period products, deodorant, tooth care and toilet paper.

The 2025 Carnival season will be a little less festive in St. Mary Parish, after Baldwin officials have announced its Mardi Gras parade, scheduled for March 1, has been canceled. Baldwin Police Chief Anthony Gibson said the decision to cancel the parade was his.
