Ford Motor Co. will invest nearly $2 billion retooling a Kentucky factory to produce electric vehicles that it says will be more affordable, more profitable to build, and will outcompete rival models.

Officials said the electric truck will be affordable, starting at $30,000. President and CEO Jim Farley said the company will invest $2 billion into transforming and updating Louisville's plant. UofL coach Pat Kelsey introduced the announcement, calling it "one of the biggest in the history of this city."
