Acclaimed actor Jim Carrey would love to return to the Sonic cinematic universe, but only if the proposition convinces him.

After decidedly retiring after playing Dr. Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Jim Carrey has returned for Sonic 3, and has now said he's open to returning for Sonic 4.

Jim Carrey says that the Sonic the Hedgehog films, specifically Dr. Robotnik’s evolution, made him break his dislike for sequels.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 marked the return of Jim Carrey after the actor previously claimed that he would likely be retiring from the industry. He didn't just return to play Ivo Robotnik, however, but also took on another role in the form of Gerald Robotnik, Ivo's grandfather and creator of Shadow the Hedgehog.

Jim Carrey is open to reprising his role as Dr. Robotnik in Sonic 4. This is despite almost leaving the series after the second film, and the third one giving him yet another out. However, he would "consider" coming back for Sonic 4,

Jim Carrey returning for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 wasn't a guarantee, so the writers of the film were dead set on creating the best Robotnik story yet.
