WADA, world sport’s anti-doping body, will not appeal against the one-month doping sanction levied against tennis world No 2 Iga Swiatek. The Pole recorded a positive test for the banned substance trimetazidine (TMZ) in August.

The World Anti-Doping Agency will not appeal against the ban given to Poland's Iga Swiatek. The five-time major winner tested positive for heart medication trimetazidine (TMZ) in an out-of-competition sample in August 2024.

WADA released its decision after Iga Swiatek sealed a victory against Eva Lys to reach the Australian Open quarterfinals.

World No. 2 and five-time Grand Slam champion Iga Swiatek opened up about her recent one-month doping ban for a positive drug test, describing it as the most challenging period of her tennis career. Speaking on the eve of the Australian Open, Swiatek shared that the ordeal was “pretty chaotic” and labeled it the “worst time” of her life.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) said on Monday it would not lodge an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the case of Iga Swiatek after the former world number one tested positive for prohibited substance trimetazidine (TMZ).

Iga Swiatek, a self-described “control freak,” is taking new precautions — including holding on to extra samples of medicine she takes, in case they need to be tested at some point — after a doping case she describes as probably the worst time in her life.

The findings for the world No.2 were released straight after her win over Eva Lys in the fourth round of the Australian Open.

Iga Swiatek is free to focus on her Australian Open campaign after the World Anti-Doping Agency decided against lodging an appeal in her doping case.
