Before the sun rose on Sunday morning, a mother bear and her two cubs walked through Eagle Point Campground in Lake Tahoe’s Emerald Bay, searching for food while campers slept. One woman woke up suddenly in her trailer: The mother bear was trying to get inside.

The CDFW and California State Parks described the bear as a "danger to public safety" in the south Lake Tahoe area.

California officials say a black bear with a history of confronting humans and breaking into homes was euthanized this week after swiping at a camper near Lake Tahoe and sending her to the hospital with cuts and bruises.
