A driver was shot on Highway 84 in Newark Tuesday evening in what the California Highway Patrol said was a road rage related incident.

The two-vehicle crash happened on eastbound Highway 84, west of Interstate 880, and while on the way, officers were notified that a witness had heard what sounded like gunshots right after the crash.
